The Ridge League of Cities is delighted to welcome author, advocate, organizer, and social entrepreneur Sam Daley-Harris as our guest speaker for the June Membership Dinner in Davenport. The Davenport dinner meeting is scheduled for Thursday June 13, 2024 at the Tom Fellows Event Center.
Daley-Harris grew up in Miami, studied music, taught high school, and played percussion in the Miami Philharmonic Orchestra for more than a decade. In 1980 he founded the nonprofit citizens’ anti-poverty lobby RESULTS. Its mission was to create the political will to end hunger and the worst aspects of poverty by lobbying governments and the media to support funding for cost-effective programs that had demonstrated real-world results. In 1994, The first edition of Sam’s book Reclaiming Our Democracy: Healing the Break between People and Government was released. President Jimmy Carter called it “A road map for global involvement in planning a better future.” In the completely revised and updated 2024 edition, Sam Daley-Harris uses his decades of experience leading and coaching citizens’ advocacy groups to expand that road map.
He currently lives in Princeton, NJ with his wife Shannon. Books will be available for purchase at the June dinner. Sam, Welcome to the Ridge League!
